This morning I have had unsettling news. My application for extension of my residential visa after December 10, 2009 has been rejected with instructions to apply once more within the terms of my new entry visa which is valid until May 12, 2010.
It is frustrating after more than 57 years spent in India that a seemingly unhelpful reply is received. And, I had tried more than once to institute an application for Indian citizenship.
It was through Nobilians Feroze Ahmed and Jawed Ashraf that I was able to get a new visa to come back to India. I welcome help. It may come from unexpected sources.
I trust in the Lord,
God's blessings

One day a young mother met Aristotle with this question, "When should I begin training my child?" "How old is your child?" asked Aristotle. "Why, he is five years old", answered the mother. "Hurry home", cried Aristotle, "You are five years late already." Well, dear parents, you entrusted these young men when they were just five years old, and you dear students, some of you may remember that first day when you walked into the portals of this school, some crying, some laughing and brimming with excitement, some confused, some bewildered, and some of you may not even remember that day. After almost 11 years of journey that I am sure all of you will cherish throughout your life, you have

Friday, October 9 was indeed a ‘Black Friday' for all of us as on that day Atif Mustafa, a 2nd standard boy of our school was cruelly snatched away from us. This was done not by any professional kidnappers, but somebody who knew the boy so well and ironically that caused him his life as the kidnappers realized that Atif recognized them and so they mercilessly killed him! Our hearts go out in deep condolences to the bereaved family that lost its precious gem. Atif, however, taught us some hard lessons with his own life - that in the present situation nobody, including the school children, is safe; that nobody can be fully trusted as it was his van driver who, instead of dropping him to the school took away and handed him over to the kidnappers; that the public administration is not concerned about the safety and security of the children as the road in front of the school has been blocked for many months in spite of repeated request to open it for the sake of school children; that none of us can afford to be recalcitrant in executing our responsibilities. A costly class indeed! But we will miss you Atif. |

It is a sad sad Diwali for the family of Atif, a student of class two at De Nobili School, Digwadih, who was kidnapped and brutally murdered. According to media reports, his neighbour and driver were involved. I fail to understand what kind of person will do such a heartless crime. It is so shocking. We have fallen to such lows. While we live in the luxury of our urban lives, we celebrate the success of our alumni, the lives of present Nobilians enter into a dangerous terrain with each passing day.
